Sale of the dissolved monastery of Fountains, 1597

This deed records Sir Stephen Proctor purchasing the house and site of the recently dissolved monastery of Fountains Abbey in 1597 for £4,500. The fantastic illustration at the top of the deed shows a representation of Fountains Abbey and includes several human faces.
