Exciting new Anne Lister diary entries!

SH:7/ML/E/16/0150 – Diary of Anne Lister, 13 Jan 1833-9 Mar 1834.

Does anybody want to know what Anne got up to in her missing five days between the entry on the 15th December 1833 and her entry on the 21st December 1833? We suspect the answer to that question will be a resounding yes! Closely followed by “How do you know what Anne did during these five days?”.

Well in true Anne fashion, she wrote it down.

She just didn’t write it down in her diary or even a travel journal. Instead she wrote diary entries for these days in the back of one of her day books! Turns out this wasn’t the only day book Anne recorded journal entries in. Three of her day books, usually containing accounts, also contain journal entries.

Dorjana Širola of the In Search of Ann Walker group contacted us about these entries and kindly provided transcriptions. These transcription’s alongside images of the entries have now been added to our online catalogue! New diary entries are online right now!
